India got its first C-17 military aircraft in may 2013.
Indian Air Force (IAF) wanted an aircraft for heavy weight transportation purposes in 2009.
India finally signed a contract with America in 2011 to get 10 C-17 Globemaster III aircrafts.
The first aircraft was delivered to India in 2013 and since then all the C-17’s have been extensively used in transportation and operations concluding 30,000 hours (in 2022) of fly time.
