Bangalore Palace located in Garden City Bangalore is one of the popular tourist attractions in India. Being located in the central part of Bangalore, Bangalore Palace is now a home to rich personality’s marriages, movie shoot and public functions. Just like Mysore Palace, Bangalore Palace is also an epitome of architectural skills and culture of ancient kings. Building this palace was not a pre-planned idea, but a need of the time as the 22nd King of the Mysore Kingdom (Wodeyar Dynasty) Krishnaraja Wadiyar III died of old age in 1868, his son Chamarajendra Wadiyar X who was still a minor, wanted a palace to stay while pursuing his training in Bangalore until he takes charge of administration of the Kingdom.
The Palace is built on the land that was previously owned by the Principal of Central High School, Rev. J. Garrett. The land was purchased from professor by British Guardians of the King in 1873 for Rs. 40,000(now 529.11 dollars).
The Palace is built on wide spread land of 454 acres of which 45,000 sq. ft. floor area is occupied by Palace building.

The Palace has 34 Bedrooms, a swimming pool, Ballroom, Durbar Hall, Assembly Hall, Watch Towers, and the whole interior of the palace is covered with beautiful paintings, and exterior walls of the building covered with plants.

The Palace has Musical Auditoriums, Amusement Park called Fun World, It also has many Wedding Halls, A Security Agency also has an it’s headquarters inside the Palace premises.
There are around 30,000 paintings inside the Palace.
There are a lot of international music artists that have performed there including Iron Maiden, Backstreet Boys, David Guetta, Enrique Iglesias, Metallica, John Elton.
The Palace also holds record for most number of people attending the paid concert in India where in 38,000 people officially and another 4,000 unofficially had attended the show of Iron Maiden.
Metallica’s Live Concert was the last concert to be held there.
